“Hard times
carve best of a man” If we are determined to achieve our goal, we can surely

In act three, he works really hard and this
immense hard work finally pays. He gets highest marks not just in Mathematics
but in most of the subjects securing top position in his class.
Characters-
Major: Narrator, Narrator’s Cousin

Characterization-
Narrator (the boy): He is highly determined and
hardworking. He was filled with zeal and had an optimistic approach towards
life. He works immensely hard and keeps on practicing.
Narrator’s Cousin: He had a mocking nature as he mocked
his cousin brother. Apart from this he was not at all helpful.
Climax-
The narrator
works hard and keeps on practicing which results in wonders as in gets good
marks not only in Mathematics but in most of the subjects in his class.
This story
clearly portrays the importance of hard work is our life. Present and future
growth depends on lessons learnt from past and this can be testified to this
fact, that how Narrator identified and accepted challenges and how he used them
as opportunity to elevate his educational awareness, knowledge and skills. This
experience helped him in facing different challenges.
There is
absolutely no substitute for hard work.
One should always be full of determination. The story is targeted to
Students who think they are not good in academics or in some subject and
broadly to every individual who thinks he is not good at some particular task
and refrains from doing it.
Students
these days tend to find excuses for not getting desired results. This story
makes them understand that “if you are not willing to work for it, don’t
complain about not having it.” The harder you work for something, the greater
you feel when you achieve it. And if one truly wants to achieve something,
nobody can stop him from doing it. If there is a will, there is always a way as
sincere hard work tends to beat insincere skill. “It’s the will, not the skill”.
